Watertight Concrete

Ferndown House, in the Saunton Sands area of North Devon, is a property constructed to overlook the stunning views of the North Devon Biosphere Nature Reserve. Ferndown House will be an eight-bedroom property with a swimming pool, cinema, gym and bar located in the basement.

Owing to its congested built environment, almost any construction project in London requires working within tight physical constraints at the best of times, but the logistical restrictions at 9-11 Richmond Buildings in Soho, London, were exceptionally challenging.

Built in 1900, London’s Bank Station provides access to the Central, Northern, DLR, Waterloo and City lines and is one of the world’s most complicated subterranean stations.

In Q4 2019 Renderseal Ltd worked alongside main contractor, Crystal Clear Building Solutions, to waterproof a basement and swimming pool at a property on Beltane Drive, Wimbledon. This was an extension project of approx. 250m2.

A multi-million pound scheme to renovate the station was completed earlier this year, offering 21st Century solutions to an increase in commuter numbers, such as a new subway, stairs, lifts, ticket office and waiting room.

Sika supplied a fully-comprehensive solution to provide the ultimate watertight protection for a basement within a commercial superstructure that is destined to earn ‘landmark’ status in London’s Canary Wharf.

Sika supplied a single-source warranty as part of a dual waterproof solution for a large, privately-built concrete basement to guarantee its long-term protection against the perils of damp and water ingress.

11 Ducie Street is home to 250 of BDP’s Manchester based staff. It comprises 2,500 square metres of open plan office space with a further 400 square metres of ancillaery areas, including meeting rooms, exhibition space, café and reception area.

Bert Williams Leisure Centre in Bilston features a main swimming pool and a studio pool for beginners. The new centre replaces the ageing Bilston Leisure Centre which was built in the 1960’s.

Sika Watertight Concrete is being used to provide a dry environment in the basement car park areas of the prestigious Bridges Wharf development, that is currently under construction for developer Weston Homes, on a site adjacent to the London Heliport in Battersea.

The £14m Canada Water Library, recently opened by Southwark Council on the edge of the Canada Water Basin, has a basement constructed using the Sika® Watertight Concrete System.

A prestigious new £68 million development, presently being constructed by Dandara, on abandoned industrial land, right on the St Hellier waterfront in Jersey.

This visually stunning new Engineering and Computing facility at Coventry University, forms part of the university’s £160 million redevelopment plan for the city centre campus. This innovative building, which was designed by Arup Associates and built by Vinci Construction, has impressive environmental credentials, incorporating highly sustainable technologies that include solar thermal energy, biomass boilers and rainwater harvesting.

Sika® Watertight Concrete was incorporated in the design of the new, £2.75 million Cromwell Stand, at Huntingdon Racecourse. The area is prone to flooding and it was essential to protect the various facilities at ground floor level from water ingress.

Architects from Wm Saunders Partnership designed a new swimming pool complex, part of a £6 million redevelopment at Oaklands Leisure Centre in York.

The impressive new £5 million Library and IT Centreat Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge has recently been constructed by Kier Marriott. The main library reading rooms are situated on three floors with the IT Centre housed in a contiguous piled basement.

Greenwich Creekside, an exciting, £60 million new development for Telford Homes, situated just south of the River Thames, in the London Borough of Greenwich. The scheme, which is part of the Creekside Village regeneration project, is designed by architects Squire and Partners, who have taken inspiration from the adjacent Laban Dance Centre for the design of this new development.

Sika® Watertight Concrete has been chosen to ensure a dry basement at the new extension to the Health, Sports and Science (HESAS) facility at the University of Glamorgan, Glyntaff Campus, Pontypridd.

The new £15 million, 4,500 sq ft Alan Reece building was designed by Arup Associates and built by Keir Marriott.

The high-tech, Library of Birmingham building, which on completion was the largest public bulding in Europe, was designed by the Delft-based architects, Mecanoo. The library, which is situated on Centenary Square, is spread over 10 levels and comprises four box shaped structures that are staggered to create various canopies and terraces. Strikingly, the exterior is clad with a filigree pattern of concentric metal rings over glass, silver and gold facades.
