Darra to Springfield Transport Corridor is an impressive new piece of integrated road and rail infrastructure designed to serve the needs of residents living along Brisbane’s expanding Western Corridor. The $800 million project incorporates a new passenger rail line and station, a shared pathway for pedestrian and cycle traffic.
Concrete was a natural choice for pavements, retaining and noise walls. The challenge for the design team was to provide relief to these large areas of concrete by integrating different materials, textures, finishes and colours.
Sika Architectural Concrete was used in many different areas of the project. Sika ColorFlo® liquid and dry concrete pigment were specified for all concrete that required an aesthetical finish and over 5 kilometres of broom-finished grey pigmented concrete was utilised for the shared pedestrian and cycle pathway.
